ranking char clones by handsomeness

rhodochrositemy highly scholarly and rigorous investigation into the handsome young men of gundam. this is based purely on shallow and primarily visual factors and does not always reflect how much i actually like each guy. asterisked entries are char clones i haven't met yet:
1. graham aker, 00
HE IS SOOOOOO HANDSOME YOUNG MAN IT'S UNREAL i love his boyband idol hair it's my favourite char clone hairstyle. i haven't seen furuba reboot but he has same seiyuu as new shigure (and apparently also jjk gojo) which is so like.... lmfao. anyway graham is so insanely handsome and charming to me, i couldn't really tell you anything he did in 00 because i was too busy being entranced and memorywiped by his face. also in combination with the multiple times he doesn't die when killed and his postcanon resurrection as superpowered metal alien symbiote giving him jaemin boom era blue-grey bangs and general inability to be fazed by situations, he truly has a society so undestabilisable and i love that in a 1, rankwise and orderwise
2. kenneth sleg, hathaway's flash
the only real char clone trait kenneth has is being the main rival since he isn't blond, masked, or the pilot of a red mobile suit, but since his original design was blond i do think kenneth is meant to be a char clone so i'm including him in this list. it's true that the atobe voice is doing a lot of heavy lifting here for me personally, but i also think kenneth is legit really handsome and i like his movie redesign way more than his original design anyway. he loses some desirability points for being named kenneth but gains them back for being voiced by suwabe and knowing how to handle situations and basically literally being gundam atobe
i really enjoyed the prisoner interrogation scene where he slammed the cv tsudaken guy's head into a table and think the movie definitely could have spent a little longer on that. for personal reasons. i also really enjoyed how he spends half the movie carrying a riding crop even though he only rides a horse for like one scene. i also also really enjoyed the extremely charged and flirtatious text and subtext in his interactions with both gigi and hathaway and like aura of ドS generosity which all created an image that really made me think
3. char aznable, 0079/zeta/cca
well he is the original handsome young man of gundam!!! a handsome and princely face and a handsome and princely ikeshu voice... i think char's max handsomeness was during cca, which i know was his ridin/make a wish depression era but he looked so good though. i tend to be a forehead hater but i think the slicked back hair pairs so well with the imposing military severity and the cape and the general aura of like emptiness and emotional barrenness
quattro is my second favourite char era, i'm kinda scandalised by him having his arms out like what happened to all our nevernudeism but his arms do look good it's true and the clark kent sunglasses disguise makes me laugh, i love jokes. and actively being in a mentorship role suits him!! i think his darth vader helmet/mask thing from 0079 looks kinda goofy but it's iconic and i think he made it work and he was really handsome underneath it anyway especially during the part where he shot kycilia's head off with a bazooka
4. athrun zala, seed
obviously i think athrun is a visual slayer, THE visual slayer even, the face that launched a thousand hours of watching gundam, if this were a general visuals ranking he would be #1 to me. but this is a handsomeness ranking specifically and other than not being blond i feel like athrun doesn't really fit in on this list he's uhhh more yukimura style beautiful than handsome. like shoujo love interest vibes kinda. cv ishida akira definitely contributes to the overall energy of visual slayerism
5. zechs merquise, wing
my visual favourite out of the long-haired subset of char clones, his mask is a bit boring but he has a very pretty face under the mask which i appreciate greatly and i like the design of his bangs a lot and i think his long silky straight pantene commercial hair suits him really well
6. glemy toto, zz*
don't know anything about glemy yet but i hope to meet him soon he really is a handsome young man despite a somewhat unfortunate name, his hair is cute and i like his big sparkly eyes and long eyelashes Just Like J
7. mu la flaga, seed
decent golden boy next door type visuals, like generically handsome. i think seed's shoujo esque art style doesn't make mu look as good as i feel like he's supposed to be, like maybe he's a bit too masc for seed. when he grows out his hair to shoulder length in destiny he looks more beautiful and congruous with the seed style (and exactly like de-evilised rau LMFAO but that's not surprising since rau is a clone of mu's dad), even though i think he looks better with short hair
8. riddhe marcenas, unicorn
i think riddhe needs to either cut his hair or grow it out a bit more and also get proper bangs, the academy era dimitri fire emblem side part isn't really working for him. like i think he's kind of worse looking bernie, who really was a handsome young man (#RIP 😔). still, riddhe has the same kind of boyish handsomeness as mu la flaga except fresher and younger, he just needs to get better hair imo
9. jerid messa, zeta
it pains me to speak well of jerid but i am trying to do objective science here and he is technically a ""handsome"" young man even though i spent all of zeta praying on his downfall and cheered when he died. i think his hair sucks though, i think his pompadour looks stupid. but his face is fine 😕
10. cronicle asher, victory*
redheaded char clone try something difference? not sure how i feel about the centre parted bangs + ponytail combo, i think it kinda works on him but i think his looks are rather ruined by the evil frown he is sporting in his google image searches. he has my name in his name though so that's bonus points
11. rau le creuset, seed
he gets points for having a cool looking mask but the difference in hair style from mu is truly the key point in their rank difference even though they have the same face. also i don't really have a clear memory of actually seeing rau's face in the show so he literally is just the mask to me
12. mcgillis fareed, iron-blooded orphans
i think ibo designs in general are kind of ugly but this may have something to do with the art style generally being offputting to me, i can recognise that relative to the other designs mcgillis is probably supposed to be handsome and i do respect the text. but there's something weird about his bangs like they just look off, i think the problem is that his hair doesn't have enough volume to balance the swoopy bangs. he needs more hair. and also bigger eyes, the ratio of his eyes to the length of his face is not pleasing to look at. but nobody really looks good in ibo, except for the gundams
13. harry ord, turn a
it also pains me to have harry ranked this low since he's one of my favourite char clones (or quattro clones i guess) but he does objectively look goofy af. but it's camp ok, the silver helmet hair + insect eye red sunglasses + extremely ugly casual wear is actually a serve!! also he's seriously so chill and well-adjusted for being a char clone and i think it's because he's a henchman so he doesn't have to deal with char's power vs responsibility internal struggles lol
14. full frontal, unicorn
HOW ARE YOU GOING TO BE LITERALLY A CLONE OF CHAR AND LOOK THIS BAD... i don't think the long curly hair looks good on him, i think having that much hair volume needs to be balanced with bigger eyes. or maybe he should have tied it back or something, i just don't like the styling. no i just imagined him with a ponytail i don't think that's the answer. his hairline is too ugly literally what happened to his cca look!!!! he also needs to get rid of the second white collar thing coming out of his uniform collar. char's necromancy zombie cyborg clone animated by a piece of his soul era was not his best
15. carozzo ronah, f91*
he's not even a young man and his mask is ugly too, truly giving nothing
16. zoltan akkanen, narrative
at least full frontal still has char's voice and face (kind of) underneath the mask... zoltan is so ugly i don't even want to include him on this list but he is technically a literal clone of char as well even though he doesn't look like char at all and is also a flop loser who not only kills but murders women (i'm aware char also murdered women but he's different)
BONUS:
+ if miorine is a girl char clone as i suspect/hope she may be, she's definitely at least graham's rank i love her ice queen design soooo much i think she is gorgeous
++ akai is probably tied with char for handsomeness imo, fittingly enough lol. i really like dark hair + blue/green eyes combo. okiya is around top 5
+++ for transparency's sake it must be disclosed that one of the main criteria i was assessing on was how much the guy in question reminded me of jaemin as my favourite handsome young man ever which makes jaemin invisibly #0 on this list, yes i do think of char as a jaemin clone even though char was allegedly created 21 years before jaemin but as if it's my fault they have so many specific psychological problems in common eg: 1 million control issues, being male manipulators, never saying what they mean or committing to a stance so they can never be destabilised (in theory), being very good at clocking other people's desires and fulfilling these desires even if they don't understand where those desires come from, speaking vaguely so the people they're speaking to can project whatever they want onto it, having very small inner circles, only liking the people they already like, constantly trying to reconstruct the past and/or maintain the status quo, loving to lecture others, hating it when actions have consequences, enjoying power and attention but not the responsibility that comes with, having extremely constructed public-facing personas with no clear boundary between those and their internal selves........... etc
