my short review of BEAUTIFUL CHAOS (2025) by KATSEYE
gnarly
I appreciate Gnarly way more than I did at first listen because I now realize this is probably "baby's first hyperpop song" for 99% of its listeners... including me (I personally don't think me listening to a few 100 gecs songs counts). so it's good for being that kind of song. post-public switch up I remember scrolling through a bunch of first impressions and someone said "whoever made this song please rethink your career", of Alice Longyu Gao... LOL.

I appreciate they're doing more sonically and vocally complicated songs, after debut and touch sounded a bit straightforward and gnarly was just a bunch of word repetition. it's a great pop song, not a lot of notes for this one!
gameboy
it's catchy but we need to put a moratorium on the pinkpantheress/newjeans garage band starter pack downloadables until everybody gets their shit figured OUT!
mean girls
I know everyone's careers depends on TikTok virality nowadays but oh my god. it literally is like Scooter Braun trapped ten music producers in a cage and didn't let them out until they scientifically manufactured a song tweens could make stan cam video edits to, in a like Mr. Beast style competition. a throwaway line shouting out trans sisters for one second does not excuse how tacky this song is.
M.I.A.
okay now throw in this club banger to cap off the three song run to be used for reelslop edits!
overall
maybe a 3 out of 5? or 3.5 overall. I was about to say it has little cohesiveness as an assemblage of songs packaged together to form a finished product but then I realized vertical content virality is the theme.
