rhodochrositei spent around half of 2021 listening to nothing except conan music so here is a list of my top 10 conan ops and eds! kuraki_mai_liker_69 has logged in.

i was going to try to embed the actual ops and eds but conan copyright control be on guard and i can't find any convenient uploads and i really can't be bothered to dl the eps myself to cut out the op section and reupload and embed so i will separately link to uploads of the ones where i think it is important to see the footage as well.

thoughts: angsty banger! my feelings of positivity may be being influenced by <this amv> which i really enjoyed but i think this is a very solid op overall.

thoughts: kuraki mai's range slays i <3 edm... the opening synths are soooo good.

8: 愛は暗闇の中で - ZARD
thoughts: another banger, i really like the harmonies and the electric guitar i really think the rock(?) style is always better when women do it.
fave lyric: will the morning still come now? / as long as i’m alive, it will come / oh, crazy crazy night, no one cares / a bittersweet heart in my dream
7: just believe you - all at once [video]
thoughts: i love the visuals of conan running through the images of all the canon hets because he's looking for ran T__T the scene where they finally meet as shinichi and ran under the tree and everything is luminous and glowing and the cityscape in the background transforms into the tropical land theme park and right as their hands are about to touch the scene cuts to their shadows is soooo getting, it literally makes me tear up every time. the song is really fun and catchy... i DO just believe in you <3 and i like the key changes between verse/chorus a lot!!
fave lyric: the dream continues endlessly / let's express in words our overlapping thoughts // i want to return to that time and place / my heart is trembling
6: 羽 - inaba koshi
thoughts: idk how to describe this particular sound it's like... it isn't a sad song it's a driving inspirational shounen op but it makes me deeply sad and wistful for some reason. like it's the same effect as underline the black - metric / meteor - t.m.revolution / somehow - day6 / last game - yukimura & ryoma. i love the opening strings so much.
fave lyric: someday we'll all be separated / it's the path everyone takes / you'll cry so much you could laugh / you can't return to the past, you should be grasping for the future
5: 渡月橋 〜君想ふ〜 - kuraki mai
thoughts: hyakunin isshu themed love song might as well feel fond it's my choice!! i really like when kuraki mai does traditional-style songs they are always so beautiful and well-suited to her delicate maiden voice.
fave lyric: when the waters are gleaming in crimson red / my thoughts with you will be connected / and my prayers will be carried by the flowing river / i've been thinking about you
4: sissy sky - miyakawa airi [video]
thoughts: the main reason sissy sky is this high despite not being much of a banger on its own is because the ed sequence it's attached to is SO FUCKED UP... i literally tear up every time i watch it, my poor haibara T___T the song is so incredibly sad esp when viewed with the ed visuals, you can really feel haibara's intense loneliness and grief that she keeps tightly locked up inside herself and brushes off when others ask. i love the part where she's delicately walking and tapping her toe behind her other foot with each step while holding an umbrella it's so maidenly And then she tosses the umbrella away... and also the part where she's standing in a field and screams with her fists clenched and it's a controlled anguish at first but then she collapses into the motion like she's exhausted. IT REALLY IS LIKE THAT, the buildup of emotion until it can't be repressed any more and it bursts out of her. this whole ed is haibara sacred text fr... also it's the ed for akam sacred text episodes so like Double Sacred
fave lyric: i am not supposed to be able to love strongly and deeply / this wound that nobody but me knows of / "regardless, isn't that the case for everybody?" is something i would say
3: 永遠の不在証明 - tokyo incidents
thoughts: epic spy music as befitting an epic spy family like the akais. sheena ringo's voice is soooo cool and i'm obsessed with the way the vocal part of the song abruptly stops mid-phrase and the song instantly launches into jazzy instrumental coda. it's the theme song of the scarlet bullet but like the next entry in this list i hope this song gets brought into main conan anime as an op eventually it really deserves it.
fave lyric: the universe's mechanisms have yet to be unravelled / now many lives intersect and exploit each other / at the very least, if i can protect one person until the end, will that be enough?
2: 世界はあなたの色になる - b'z [video]
thoughts: I LOVE SPY MUSIC SO MUCH!!! this op is soooo slay overall the best combination of music + animation in any conan op, it's like a mini action movie and i wish that this was an actual case. every scene is so good... love the instant classic scene of police vs black org standoff... and most importantly it has MY SHIP propaganda thank you to the fujos who greenlit the scene of akai and amuro fighting and then violently lunging so close to each other’s faces it looks like they're about to kiss <3
fave lyric: this tunnel has no end in sight / still, i'll keep walking / this world will take on your colour
1: きみと恋のままで終われない いつも夢のままじゃいられない - kuraki mai
thoughts: SOTY... my most played song of 2021 and i am still so obsessed T__T i love the traditional sound + instrumentation and kuraki mai's beautiful airy fragile voice. ultimate starcrossed lovers song... i think the lyrics are so lovely and sad as well. i legitimately think this is like the most perfect song to ever exist from instrumentals to vocals to lyrics.
fave lyric: the night is so beautiful it's terrifying / i wish only for you to stay here until dawn
