rhodochrositeok there are tennis songs that are funny and songs from joke units and songs that are funny Because they are serious legit bangers from joke units (eg everything by megane seven or koharu) but i tried to only include the ones that are like fully meant to be jokes. in no particular order:
mebachiko - oshitari yuushi
I'M SO OBSESSED WITH THIS SONG LMAOO it's very cliquey bitchy private school girls :') oshitari stays up late talking to atobe on the phone one night and develops a sty on his eye (the titular mebachiko) and is soooo pissed off about this he starts bitching about everything he comes across in his day, i love his mumble rap complaining so much and the specific vocal fryish tone of voice that he sings😒yube↘️😒atobe↘️ in and the way he starts arguing with the chorus backup singers towards the end of the song 😭
no muda life ~ecstasy samurai no theme~ - shiraishi kuranosuke
shiraishi declaring his Maximum Efficiency life philosophy in song form it's so funny to me because like i'm not actually sure if he's being metaphorical or literal about the going on spring cleaning spree by using a sword to stab everything he deems wasteful or pointless every year. like it's literal in houkagopuri but either way he's so passionate about his mission to eliminate waste kfdsjgkjfds KILL KILL KILL USELESS THING makes me crack up every time so true king
kaburiel hakusho - shiraishi kuranosuke
shiraishi's song dedicated to his pet rhinoceros beetle... he is so earnest and deadly serious about how much he loves and cares about that fucking bug. also the cowbell and like nails rattling in cans noises and dramatic adlibs by what i assume is kaburiel's voice in shiraishi's imagination in the instrumentals are so fucking funnyyy. and it's true that you are SPECIAL KABUTOMUSHI. #RIP_KABURIEL
who's who's who - mizuki hajime & fuji syuusuke
a whole song of mizuki and fuji being toxic bitchy in-laws to each other <3 i love how mizuki is trying so hard in the verses to come off effortlessly superior to fuji and mock him but all fuji needs to do to deflate mizuki is be like... and who are you again? also not really related to the song but i find it really funny that mizuki canonically has a passion for singing but ishida akira like refuses to do chara songs or something bc i think mizuki only has two songs and in both of them he doesn't sing at all, he just talks superciliously over a beat
π - inui sadaharu
literally 7 minutes of inui reciting the digits of pi. this was also the first tennis song i ever heard lol
neji to driver - niou masaharu
tbh i wasn't really sure whether to include this because it IS a jokes song but it's also literally more a terror song, in classic niou fashion. like it starts off with niou eurhythmics sweet dreams style philosophising about how people are either screws (get used) or screwdrivers (use others), and then abruptly switches track into rambling a bunch of nonsensical unrelated puns, and then it becomes clear that niou is addressing FUJI and this is a song obliquely about the extremely terror inducing fuji v niou nats finals match, and there's this weird terror nosedive vulnerable moment right before the end where niou jokes but clearly not jokes asks fuji who niou himself is supposed to be at all, whether he's the screw or the screwdriver, then right back into jokes for the finish. like i think this is one of theeeee most illustrative sacred text character songs for niou the constant slingshotting between jokes and terror and terror disguised as jokes. also it's seriously a banger love the big band sound and niou's nasally bitch voice
charm point wa nakibokuro - atobe keigo
also not sure if this is even supposed to be a jokes song because it literally is just like... a normal 70s disco-y song but it's just atobe singing about the beauty mark under his eye in full seriousness. like that's the whole song. and it slaps!
mr may no yumemonogatari - akugatawa jirou
this song genuinely makes me hysterical like it makes me feel so insane. like the storyline is that terminal narcoleptic jirou has suddenly become an insomniac because he napped too much during the day and now can't fall asleep no matter how hard he tries, so he starts trying to count various flocks of animals (accompanied by actual farm animal noises) and also flocks of other highrankers, and then he starts dramatically having like sleep deprivation hallucinations of highrankers doing insane shit (thinking jirou might have a bit of a fudanshi heart like why are you as a man seeing visions of ryoma giving sanada a bento?). the constant tempo + song genre shifts combined with jirou's increasingly frantic and histrionic singing voice sooooo fucking funny also he literally just straight up screams at the top of his lungs. but at least he fell asleep eventually <3
bokutachi no shippai - ichinen trio
this song has so many of my favourite elements in a tennis song... people talking fast over a slappy beat, assorted highranker cameos, stupid gossip and lies, the presence of rap king j-horio... and the ryoma + karupin cameo part is SOOOOOOOOO insanely cute like people actually died
valentine kiss - oishi shuuichirou ft niou masaharu & yagyuu hiroshi
customary valentine kiss cover oishi ver but towards the end oishi discovers that the backing vocals that he thought were seigaku were in fact 2882 all along and then he has this meltdown over being pranked by rikkai's shapeshifting megafreaks in niou's attempt at umm getting close to his crush but oishi is like responsibly doing his best to keep singing but he's too freaked out and eventually just loses his mind and hysterically screams at the end and that's how the song ends. chef's kiss
yare! do it!! - hiyoshi wakashi & shishido ryou
saving the best for last ofc. LITERALLY THE FUNNIEST SONG EVERRRRRR like literally every single part of this song is so insanely funny it makes me cry from hiyoshi's bitch voice which is inherently already so funny and the hiyoshi working out so hard he starts hallucinating his workout buddy senpai cheering him on storyline and the relatability of hiyoshi trying to motivate himself to keep training but ending up having midnight snacks and sleeplessly online shopping and shishido's declarations interspersed throughout the song (like by the time it gets to SOBAGARA DAZE! i'm basically in tears) and the fact that the song is actually a really catchy banger and great high energy workout music and the WAKASHI! / SHISHIDO-SAN! / WAKASHI!!! / SHISHIDO-SAN!!! ootori hate crime parody bridge. god song literally
