THOUGHTS: this is a statistically perfect shounen anime op there's nothing to say except that the ryoma cover is EVEN BETTER. epic electric guitar, emotionally moving melodic line <3
FAVE LYRICS: the heartbeat accelerates and leads us towards a dazzling future / if we can shake off the unbreakable sadness / and walk beyond the path we're on / we can live with possibilities

RATING: 7/10
THOUGHTS: not sure if i'm biased because this came right after future but it just doesn't hit the same way... still a fun upbeat song though, those classic early 00s synths
FAVE LYRICS: time tears through the darkness and flows out / star light is breathing in the palm of my hand, don't be afraid of trying / let's raise the strength in our hearts to choose any tomorrow

RATING: 7/10 for the kimeru ver, 8/10 for the hisoca ver
THOUGHTS: more emotionally inflected than the first two ops but still full of shounen passion which is what i love to hear
FAVE LYRICS: it shines beautifully, so cover it with both hands / you can see without stirring / something like a glass-spun dream that would shatter with a fist / but you can take it with those hands again

RATING: 6/10
THOUGHTS: it is objectively not a great song but it literally sounds like a yugioh 5ds op right down to the weirdly offkey sound so what am i gonna do say no?
FAVE LYRICS: not lonely because of anyone, choose freedom and dreams / decide what you want to live for / be proud of your determination

THOUGHTS: guys i hate this song so bad for no reason it's like fine it's literally a good and enjoyable song i think the opening instrumentals just put me off

THOUGHTS: it's fun i guess but i just don't like jazzy brass instrumentals. love the gay rights rainbow stuff in the lyrics tho

THOUGHTS: now THIS is more like it... driving electric guitar + percussion lines very shounen melodic progression. wish the chorus went a little harder but it's still very fun

i loooooooove the shift towards getting the voice actors to sing the ops and eds in the ovas... i seriously am so happy to hear it so these ratings all skew a little high just bc i like the characters in question so much

THOUGHTS: I LOVE TO HEAR MY BELOVED HIGHRANKERS SO MUCH i really like this song :)

THOUGHTS: lower tempo than what i usually enjoy but i actually love when tenipuri ops are just love songs. also i fc'd this song on hard mode in tenirabi on my first try so i have a lot of goodwill towards it
FAVE LYRICS: we were surely too gentle that day / we'll continue to move forward with this heart / so then it started, just like love

RATING: 10/10
THOUGHTS: again, some chill songs have rights and that's because this one is straight up a love song too and it brings me a lot of joy to hear!! pure serotonin... can't explain it
FAVE LYRICS: after spending an appalling number of nights alone / i'm only now realising that i've never fallen in love before
(though i really liked the mis(?)trans in the fansub i was watching that translated this as "if you're only now realising it, you haven't really been in love before")

THOUGHTS: the constant key changes confuse me but ms minagawa junko's perfect ryom voice <3 <3 and ofc the finals terror emotion

THOUGHTS: i actually don't really like this one and find it pretty boring for a reasonably fastpaced song but the fact that it's sung by highrankers automatically boosts it in my eyes

THOUGHTS: another shounen slapper from the random number generated highranker ensemble that is tachikiri kai!

THOUGHTS: I LOVE THIS SONG SOOOOO MUCH it's the perfect mix of epic shounen intensity + weirdly heartmoving vibes... sometimes listening to it will randomly bring me to tears
FAVE LYRICS: cut so high you pierce the heavens / light the fire of passion / take in your hands the future that's reflected in those eyes / kick away your fate
