this literally made me markhyuckist no joke i wish i could convey in words what it felt like to watch this for the first time. like the cut right after "we'll never be those kids again" and the repeated flashbacks to earlier babier eras interspersing the song I'M SICK. it really is about the amazing depth of history and ultimately affection tying them together despite their differences and personality clashes and growing pains. this fmv reminds me of everything i love most about markhyuck and how they fill such unique niches for each other even though those niches had to be carved out by erosion over time. "we both know the feeling deep down is good" makes me TT so bad... and it's true!! they really do.

unfortunately my fave jaemren "fmv" (literally just slowmo zoomed in vlive footage playing over friends - chase atlantic with no thought as to lyric timing or choice or anything) has been deleted which i guess is good because otherwise i'd have to include it in this list since it's like half the reason i became a jmrn shipper in the first place and it was not only barely even an fmv at all but also uploaded by youtube user taetaelovesgukkie. but i think THIS one on the other hand is actually a god tier fmv and it's obviously one that has been edited very carefully to pick suitable footage for each lyric :') the lyrics make me actually want to blow up the earth like. HAHAHA WHAT THE FUCK. verse 1 describing renjun glassheart ariespisces maiden of the world verse 2 RENJUNPOV on jaemin's boy who cried wolf inducing jokes but not jokes flirting that is simultaneously genuine and not with no real way to tell the difference because there kind of is none in the first place. "i'll behave, be loyal and tender, never apathetic / you're the only one for me" is sooooooodsfjkgsjdfkdsksfdkdsfgkdskjfdsg INCOMPREHENSIBLE. MAY GOD HAVE MERCY ON YOUR WRETCHED SOUL. like ok na "lying liar who lies" jaemin but also i criedddddd... like jmrn to me is all about unrealised potential in that they could be everything if they tried but they won't for various reasons which means they are nothing instead because they lack natural/effortless compatibility so they are pretty much constantly just operating on inertia. but watching this fmv almost makes me believe that jaemin not only could but Would try to be good to renjun. or like would have at one point. ahaha.
also 2018 jmrn makes me so violently ill i struggled for so long just typing this blurb out like ummmm first of all how is renjun that small. second of all WHEN JAEMIN ONLY GOT TWO EYES>>>>>>>>>. like how can a person be so good at looking at another person. ESPECIALLY IN THE 00Z VLIVE PARTS MY GOD.. third of all i hope i pass away. the moments in particular that make me die: every scene from the cooking vlive where renjun looks the size and weight of a paper doll, renjun touching the underside of jaemin's chin to get his attention, wgu recording behind where jaemin is sitting in front of renjun and paying sooo much attention to him and also wearing a pair of adidas track pants that i also own, the judicious application of chewing gum era flashbacks. *laughing weakly* op makes it look like they like each other so much... like not only the obvious smiling at e/o and playfulness in joking around with e/o or whatever but also creating such a strong feeling of serious and somewhat tentative underlying emotion that makes me suddenly the most optimistic romantic idealist the world has ever seen. also this fmv incepted "please absorb some nutrients and rebalance your head" into my vocabulary.

ABSOLUTELY INSANE SONG CHOICE. i'm not so convinced about its applicability to wzy in verse 2 because "your solitude is like a castle that others admire but it also keeps them from getting too close" is wayyyyyyyy more cxk than it is wzy so it makes a lot more sense when it's repeated in verse 3 for cxk. but it's true that VERSE 1 WAS LITERALLY WRITTEN FOR CXK. "i stay aloof because i don't want others to discover that i'm too easily moved" like seriously the fuckinggg... how lonely it is at the apex of the pyramid and cxk's careful perfect idol image management and repression and pervasive sense of pedestaled isolation despite his increasingly obvious depth of emotion and desire to connect with others but also his understanding of the ruthless nature of the industry that chewed him up and spat him out but here he is trying again. and "i prefer the present me, i don't really want to go back to the past" kills me every time, i think it's something about the low modality/uncertainty in expression of the statement because like, the past was so painful of course he wouldn't want to go back, but at the same time his sense of self was a little less carefully constructed and he was a little less mired in sunk costs and there is something to be said about the simplicity of faith in the fulfilment of a dream not yet tempered by the actual experience of failure even though he was supposed to have won. and set over training footage from his super idol days oh op you are so sick and twisted for this.
i think i wasn't that sure about the relevance of the whole like, hesitant delicate What Are We ambiguity lens for wzycxk until the voice memos confirming that they were literally assigned fanservice couple together by iqiyi to boost ratings leaked and then i was like i literally understand everything now. like this is the arranged political marriage to real true love story of all time, including cxk's initial reluctance to go along with the producers because it felt morally wrong to him to lie about his relationship to wzy, and also thank god for 1s and 0s. but i really truly believe they developed a genuine intimacy and friendship like wzy seems like a really nice and good guy who is easy and comfortable to be around. and cxk with his airport's worth of idol baggage would surely be drawn to that for real!! cxk always looked very cute and young and playful when he was around wzy and also like... deeply in love? like yes cxk has idol image on lock but I JUST FEEL THATTTT. also the airport footage at the end of wzy turning back to grab cxk to securely lead him out of the crush of fans so sweet even if probably a bit unethical.

i genuinely have nothing to say for myself. is this a competently-edited or well-made fmv? no. did it smash a barrel open over my head killing me instantly? YES. i don't even bother watching the second half because it's boring and not even tails_gets_trolled.png inducing but the first half which is literally just b/w 17tv footage set to a nondescriptly romantic ballad triggers the instinct to sob my eyes out for inexplicable reasons. i think it's probably just the 17tv footage itself that makes me very emotional because like ummmm yeah but also i'm not immune to emotional love song. like i don't think this is a good fmv but i have to include it in this list just for the sheer intensity of feeling it evokes in me.

i haven't seen any of the eva movies nor watched the show for like 10 years but i still cried when youtube recommended this to me... i'm not even sure if it's this amv specifically or just like the fact of one last kiss being a really fucked up song re: the idea of beginnings always carrying the premonition of endings and the ending scene of 3.0+1.0 being so insanely Wait It's All Love? like the train station setting suggesting it's just a temporary meeting of paths before everyone moves onto their separate destinations and the beautiful sunny day and shinji watching kaworu and rei chat on the other side of the train tracks and like. the moment of understanding that everyone can still be alive and happy and keep growing even after so much pain and shinji too can move on into the future. like you treasure the history and the unexpected moment of convergence, and then, without forgetting, you let it go. into the dazzling afternoon.
MOBILE SUIT GUNDAMuniversal century x beyond the time - moriguchi hiroko
the mobius strip motif makes me feel so insane bc it's like, one hand there's no progress no matter how far you run and you are doomed to repeat all your past mistakes. on the other hand, love and forgiveness will always return to you and you can never lose anything forever. which is especially killing in charsayla context because they are the epitome of memory==love bad end as the images they have of each other are fundamentally wrong and it's impossible to reconcile the people they are now with the people they still believe the other to be and the only options are clinging onto this mistaken idealised memory or sharply pull apart in the recognition that they are now strangers. "i'm searching for that day when we fell in love" over the 0079 scene where char and sayla part for the last time Why Would You Do This.
anyway i think the "you can change your destiny" refrain is kind of deeply sick and twisted in this context because the very nature of a mobius strip means that the path forward is set in stone and you can't change because all you do is return to where you began. so you have to leave the mobius strip in order to attain a better and happier future, but that means you have to give up on the surety of love that you had before. and then the most you can hope for is to meet one more time by serendipity, which is the message the song closes on... and over scenes of char vs amuro mid-battle!? like it IS true that they too were only able to reunite by chance that is like fate because of the 因縁 of lalah's death and it is always going to be the two of them clashing again and again in the end. and it's so bittersweet like it's literally in the title, you have to escape time itself to be able to reach the place where everyone can be happy and together and understanding each other properly.
also "you belong to me // i belong to you // we belong to earth" IS SOOOOOOOO FUCKED UP not only the tension between duty/ideals vs love it implies but also the fact that char decides that humanity is beyond saving and he should just destroy the earth with the sister he loves/loved more than anything else still on it, when during 0079 all he wanted was for her to quit the military and live a peaceful and safe life on earth. deikuns literally the most devastating love is not enough story of all timeee 😭

AMURO_SLAY_FANCAM.MP4 i think this such a good fmv like the choice of footage for the lyrics is soooo chef's kiss and i think op distilled the essence of zero the enforcer into this video, which to me is the question of what you are willing to do in the name of Good. like the idea of "only one truth but many forms of justice" and the ideological divide between conan and amuro, who are on opposite ends of the spectrum of utilitarianism despite both being heroically positioned, comes through so clearly. "what can be done in this world? / is there anything i can do?" over the moment conan realises amuro is behind mori's framing and angrily confronts him and amuro tells him he had to do it because there's something he'd protect even at the cost of his own life. which conan should understand! but for conan that is ran, and for amuro that is the greater good, even if it means sacrificing a few. the scene of ran crying over "i want you to smile" TT...
verse 2 is soooo perfect for amuro's Duty Above All Else ideals, "this wonderful world is as peaceful as always" is so laughable but well-suited to amuro's civilian identity and also honestly what he is aiming for in the end no matter what kinds of terrible and cruel acts he has to do to achieve it. i loveeeee the editing for the bridge section it contrasts conan and amuro's approaches to justice and how they use their false identities to meet those ends so well. conan who believes in pure righteousness and harming no one, amuro who lives mired in lies. "what form should i take? / what is the real me?" over scenes of amuro's three identities splicing together SO TRUE and especially the way it ends on furuya rei, who is after all the original and real amuro but also the emptiest. also the way none of conan and amuro's ideological conflicts are resolved even though they understand they are working towards the same goal of protecting something greater than themselves and both the movie and this fmv end on them walking away from each other chef's kiss.
