heres a post totally unrelated to yugioh for once
ggghghghhgh i dont know why my skin has been SO BAD since i came back from gc not even breaking out yet just sooo dry and tight and bumpy which is so weird since usually i have the opposite problem, oily/combination/sensitive skin type ~__~ also ongoing problem with my lips that i still haven't figured out how to fix. basically my entire face stings and im sooo miserable
anyway the point of this post was to record my skincare routine + thoughts on products so i can track progress...
AM:
- FOAM CLEANSER: the face shop chia seed cleanser - im trying to phase this out of my routine, it doesnt actively break me out but i think its way too harsh on my skin and i really dont like it T_T i only got it bc i couldnt afford/source better cleansers at the time. i dont trust products that foam too easily and in general i think tfs skincare is not great
- VITAMIN C: melano cc anti-spot essence - just started using this, its a very popular serum according to my research so i hope its not breaking me out lmfaoo i havent noticed any change in my skin yet but its early days yet. i really like the applicator, its so easy to control how much im squeezing out and it protects the product from exposure to air
- MOISTURISER: cosrx advanced snail all in one cream - pretty decent moisturiser, usually hydrating enough just not lately T__T im almost done with this tub so im not sure whether to get a refill or try a new moisturiser but at least i know this one definitely doesnt break me out
- SUNSCREEN: biore uv aqua rich watery essence - really like this, its not greasy or oily at all but every time i buy a new tube biores revamped the formulation so idk... i think my skin agrees the most with the 2019 formula which is lucky, plus it doesnt have the weird smell the 2017 formula did
- OIL CLEANSER: banila clean it zero cleansing balm - LOVE this, i love that its solid so it transports easily and only melts into an oil once you apply it to your face... gentle but thorough. i do wonder if this is the product thats drying me out tho? im often too lazy to double cleanse but ive been going ham on the oil cleanser for the past month so maybe its a delayed reaction... x__x i would be so sad i rly love this product
- FOAM CLEANSER: the face shop chia seed cleanser
- TONER: the face shop rice ceramide toner - its ok i guess... again i dont think tfs skincare products are very good, i dont really think this is doing anything for my skin but i dont want to put acids directly onto double cleansed skin. im looking for a new hydrating toner (when will heartdrops restock son & park beauty water in the 50ml size so i can test it!!) but i might just end up dropping this step from my routine
- ACTIVES: i use bha on weekdays + aha on weekends. i know thats quite often but my skin has been fine with it until this past week... tbh i dont know if theyre doing a lot for my skin, i do notice my skin gets worse when im on holidays and dont bother packing actives but theres a lot of other variables there to consider
- cosrx bha blackhead power liquid - no real thoughts but i feel like this is more effective at combating breakouts than the aha
- cosrx aha 7 whitehead power liquid - no real thoughts either im just trying to use up the bottles and im too scared to drop them from my routine in case my skin dramatically worsens
- MASK: various the face shop masks - once every week or so. i bought a bunch of these bc the sales assistant was pretty and talked me into it lmao the avocado one is pretty hydrating. i think the tea tree one doesnt agree with my skin... when im done with these ill probably just go back to lush face masks, i think theyre much better for my skin
- MOISTURISER: cosrx advanced snail all in one cream
- SPOT TREATMENT: for breakouts
- cosrx acne pimple master patch - LOVE THIS love hydrocolloid bandages... apply over open pimple and it basically excavates it... leaves a little bit of a red mark (scar?) behind but it fades over time + with application of aha lol
- lush grease lightning - for pimples that havent come to a head yet... really nice soothing cooling effect
- FOAM CLEANSER: hada labo gokujyun super hyaluronic acid foaming wash - patch testing this on my forehead and so far im not actively breaking out which is a good sign i guess, its just that my entire face has such bad skin quality rn i cant really tell but this is apparently one of the safest most gentle cleansers on the market. tbh my concern is that it doesnt give me that 'clean' feeling, it might be TOO gentle and not cleansing enough for me x__x
- SERUM: cosrx advanced snail 96 mucin power essence - really hopeful about this one, flare said it dramatically improved the texture of her skin and the cream works on me so fingers crossed this will hydrate my skin nicely
- MOISTURISER: cosrx honey ceramide full moisture cream - heard this is thicker + more occlusive and hydrating than the snail cream im using rn so hopefully it will give my skin the hydration it needs rn
- TONER/SERUM/MOISTURISER: laneige cream skin refiner - got this on a whim for when my skin is too oily for a heavy cream/gel moisturiser or maybe for morning routine. alternatively i might replace my tfs toner with this. ofc dependent on whether it breaks me out
- LIP MASK: laneige lip sleeping mask - kind of extra but like four people have said this is good so im going to get it next time im at sephora or beautyworks cosmetica or something
- ACTIVE: krave beauty kale lalu yAHA - god this was $$$... got suckered in by the hype even tho i still have ~30% of my cosrx aha left but im really excited about this, apparently its gentle and helps clear breakouts and is really good for sensitive skin so im hopeful it works on me!!
- OIL CLEANSER: innisfree green tea cleansing water - im curious about micellar water and id like to try but my current oil cleanser works so well i dont really have any justification to do so
- FOAM CLEANSER: cosrx low ph good morning cleanser - i generally trust cosrxs products but their salycic acid cleanser broke me out (it was SOOO drying) so im a little bit scared to try
- FOAM CLEANSER: krave beauty matcha hemp hydrating cleanser - i am not immune to hype!!!
- SERUM: krave beauty great barrier relief - i am not immune to hype x2!!!!
- TONER: son & park beauty water - recced by an irl who has amazing skin
- ACTIVE: the ordinary - i dont even know where to start since to has so many products id have to do more research but im kind of eye emoji...

aha/bha are chemical exfoliants! aha exfoliates the top layer of ur skin (improves skin texture + fades discolouration/acne scarring) and bha penetrates deeper (better to clear up breakouts) but they make u mildly photosensitive so its super important to wear sunscreen in the daytime after applying them. essence/serum is just like watery moisturiser its another hydration step, im only adding it into my routine bc im bored and want to expand my routine lmao
u have to be really careful about mixing prescription gels with actives bc they might react badly to each other... do u know what active is in the prescription gel? like is it a retinoid or smth? if u do some research theres definitely someone out there whos posted about how to combine/layer actives properly...
thank u for thoughts on son & park beauty water... ill see if i can find it in store then :o ETA: toner is generally considered an optional step in skincare since most cleansers should be ph balanced these days so if ur skin is getting worse from skipping toner its probably a hydration issue!! which u can obv fix by using toner but u could also look into serums if u want

oh i see....maybe i should look into getting a gentle one then >___> i used to wear sunscreen every day so it wouldnt be a problem but i ran out and stopped after bc i never bought more lmao....i just bought anessa sunscreen tho so hopefully that works and then i can look into the acids then
and i think its tazarotene (for the retinoid) and the other one is clindamycin phosphate iirc...hmm i tried looking it up and i can only find one person who experimented w tazarotene while using low percentage acids (the kravebeauty one and pixi glow tonic) so i might just wing it and try one of those lol
honestly idt the cleanser i use is very good (its like a burt bees one) so im wary about skipping the toner now while im just trying to use it up rip but ur probably right and i should be looking into a serum/moisturizer to use regularly lol

if ur starting out with acids make sure u only apply like once every few days, ease ur skin into it! apparently the krave beauty aha is good for ppl new to acids bc its ph is on the higher end of the scale so its a gentler exfoliator. again just make sure u patch test to check its not reacting badly to ur prescription lotions. i think anessa sunscreen is p good ik rich chinese lady uses it LMAO
lmao mood on the cleanser not being very good but at least it isnt actively bad... i mean like why fix what isnt broken, if the toner works then stick with it lol but if u want to expand ur routine serum/essence/ampoule is def an option u could try!!

ooh ok good to know....i dont think ill buy it very soon bc i just bought a bunch of stuff and i have more things i need to get for school which are more like Necessities ~___~ but i think ill put it on my list as soon as i feel like i have enough $$ for it...lol my friend bought it bc apparently nct uses it...but she said it was really really good and i saw it on sale so i was just like why not lmao but i also trust rich chinese ladys taste then jsdjjdk
hehe yes i think my next skincare buys will probably be a serum along w the kaleluyah

i have used a couple of things on your yet to try list:
- cosrx snail 96 ive probably used 2~3 bottles of, it's just so very basic and uncomplicated that it is extremely unlikely to cause a reaction unless you're allergic to snail mucin. on the other hand it's so light that i stopped using it because i didn't find it moisturizing enough for me
- cosrx low pH good morning cleanser: the low pH part was what attracted me initially but it was . soooooooooo drying i should have listened to the reviews.
- u know how i feel abt the laneige lip mask but it is probably worth it just for the lush feeling
also used a couple in your current routine:
- i really loved biore aqua rich sunscreen but i feel like it has too much alcohol in it? but i have yet to find a replacement that solves this, im not happy with my current sunscreen either
- banila clean it zero chefs kiss i forgot why i stopped using it i think i read something about a bad ingredient but like it worked great.. maybe i buy again
- holy shit melano cc.. i have no idea where my tube is it might be in california lmfaoo it was so expensive too?!
i realllyyyy wanted to try aha at some point (only used bha before) because i hear it helps with uneven skin but im scared of the photosensitivity.. i always feel like my uv protection is not enough to use it.

ok its good to hear that about the cosrx snail essence!! i think the lightness should be fine since i have multiple hydration steps... cosrx is usually pretty trustworthy but it seems like i should stay away from their cleansers T_T
yeah, the biore sunscreens major flaw is that it has a lot of alcohol.. i havent reacted badly to it so i keep using it, its kind of the only sunscreen ive investigated but ive also heard good things about neutrogena / shiseido senka / rohto skin aqua !!
i think there is an irritant ingredient in banila clean it zero but idr what specifically, they do have the clean it zero purity version for sensitive skin that doesnt include it tho so maybe check that one out!
i didnt think melano cc was that $$ tbh but i just checked i bought mine at $20 for 20ml ctfuu but apparently its supposed to last an entire year so thats not too bad overall :o
aha is good for improving skin texture bc it exfoliates the top layer of skin!! i think the photosensitivity is not a problem so long as you have a good spf 50+ sunscreen and apply it liberally... u have to keep applying for a whole week after you use aha tho bc it works gradually

noted on the sunscreen recs 🧐 i think next i will try either rohto skin aqua or anessa since u mentioned it in reply to someone else + my irl uses it too.
also the melano cc is like half the price in china compared to when i bought it in the US lmaoo.. im ordering another tube as we speak i do believe i still need it
sjsjjxjds your post is seriously triggering me to start having a skincare routine again *dr phil voice* thank you for that

- clinique moisture surge is one of the BEST moisturizers in the market. this shit is expensive but WILL make your skin feel like a baby's bottom again, and once you're done with it, you can switch back to old moisturizers. it just needs to *~*refresh*~* your skin again but like. i swear by it, and so does every i've converted it too. it works REALLY well for most asian skin types, but this is only applicable to the GEL formulation. ik you're thinking omg gel isn't as hydrating as cream base, but that doesn't apply with this
- don't drop the toning routine.. ik toning seems like the most useless step in skin care but i agree with u needing to find more moisturizing toners perhaps. i suggest: fresh rose hydration toner, kiehls cucumber herbal and laneige fresh calming... the son & park one is also rly good iirc but never in stock #*(RUJIJRWRJI

re: the ordinary the main thing is that i just dont know where to start/what product does what TT i want to target breakouts more effectively and fade acne scarring and generally improve my skin texture.. but im also wary of mixing actives so im not sure how i would integrate to products into my current routine. if u have any suggestions im v appreciative!! <3
